Питер Крайфт (англ. Peter John Kreeft; фамилия иногда передается также как Крифт, Крайфт[1]; род. 1937) — американский философ и теолог, профессор философии в Бостонском колледже и Кингс-колледже  (англ.) (рус.. Биография править

Питер Крайфт учился в Кальвинском колледже[en], Фордхемском университете и Йельском университете. В Кальвин-колледже Крайфта, который всерьёз принимал свою веру, часто посещала мысль стать служителем церкви, но затем, когда он увлекся английским языком и философией, он изменил свои намерения. Писатель получил несколько наград за труды по философии. С 1965 года преподаёт в Бостонском колледже. Крайфт с рождения принадлежал к Датской кальвинистской церкви, но в зрелом возрасте перешёл в католичество. Это отразилось на его работах, которые в основном посвящены христианской апологетике с католических позиций. К принятию католичества Крайфта подтолкнуло чтение Иоанна Креста, собственные размышления, любовь к средневековым вещам (таким как григорианское пение, готическая архитектура, философия томизма), историческая природа Церкви (Крайфту представлялось, что если у Церкви нет божественного вдохновения, непогрешимости, божественного авторитета, то его так же не может быть и у Нового Завета, так как Церковь написала Новый Завет). Спор между католической церковью и протестантской Крайфт представлял с технической точки зрения как спор между «реалистами» (Фома Аквинский) и «номиналистами» (Лютер, Оккам)[3].
