16^th century silver gilt hooked tag clothing fastener missing its attachment loop and most of the hook. The tag is in the shape of a moulded-relief reef knot with raised pellets. The centre of the tag is marked by a large raised pellet which defines the point at which the two threads overlap to form the knot. The entire length of the knotted pattern is decorated with some 14 raised pellets, evenly distanced. The ends of the rope pattern are petal-shaped and project beyond the loops of the knot slightly in the corners.

The base of the hook remains attached to the reverse. It has been flattened onto the back of the tag and attached with solder. The extension of the hook has broken off. Opposite the hook end, two scars show where a silver loop would have been soldered on to attach the tag to clothing.

The fastener is silver with traces of gilding on the front. It is 22.1mm long, 13.8mm wide and a maximum thickness of 4.1mm. It weighs 3.97 grams.
