English: The Bab-el-Mandeb, Gate of Tears, strait connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, and separates Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It is a strategic link between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea via the Suez Canal. In particular, oil from the Middle East passes through the strait on the way to Europe and North America. The image was acquired April 10, 2017, covers an area of 56.6 by 66.1 km, and is located at 12.6 degrees north, 43.3 degrees east.
