English: Bhim Singh Rana was born in the Bamrolia Jat clan, "Rana" was his Ancestoral title. Bhim Singh's father Rana Jaswant Singh was the ruler of Gohad (presentday north-west Madhya Pradesh). After the death of his father in 1702 AD, Bhim Singh ascended the throne of Gohad. From 1740-1756 AD, Bhim Singh maintained his authority over Gwalior as well. Some of the main battles in the life of Rana Bhim Singh were - (
1) Battle of Pachaira (1737 AD), (2) Battle of Gwalior (1740 AD)
(3) Battle of Shobhachand Sarai (1750 AD), (4) Second Gwalior war (1754 AD) About 350-360 small and big forts were under the control of Rana Bhim
Singh. Rana Bhim Singh had a very good friendship with "Maharaja Surajmal Sinsinwar", the Jat ruler of Bharatpur. Even the impregnable fort of Gwalior, called "Gibraltar of Forts" all over the world, could not escape the havoc of Rana Bhim Singh. Rana had hoisted his victory flag on the fort of Gwalior which neither the Mughals nor the Rajputs could conquer. Rana BhimSingh had defeated all his rival Rajputs, Marathas, Afghans and Mughals of his Era. Marathas made Many efforts to defeat Rana several times, but it was impossible to defeat Jats in a one-on-one battle in the battlefield, so when Rana ji left for wandering in the state with a small army, in 1756 AD, Saloo area near Gwalior fort. Marathas suddenly attacked Jats by deceit, Jats were victorious despite having less army, but Rana was very badly injured in this attack, due to which he died after 3 days. Rana's family fort is included in the "World Heritage Honorable Unesco List" which was built by Rana Singandev, the ancestor of Rana Bhim Singh.
