This is an attempt to restore colour to the image seen at File:Lillian M. Genth (1876-1953) - The Bird Song (c1900-1915).png, by combining the black and white image with a smaller colour image also posted by the Library of Congress. This is not intended to accurately represent the painting as it originally appeared in colour, but merely to give a general impression of how it might have looked.

Following the adjustments made to the black and white image, the colour image was adjusted for colour balance and contrast, re-sized, superimposed on the black and white image as a 50% transparent layer, and its contrast was flattened leaving a colour wash superimposed on the black and whie image. This combined image was then saved as a single layer on which final colour and contrast adjustments were performed.
