Эльчин Сафарали оглы Бабаев (азерб. Elçin Səfəralı oğlu Babayev; род. 4 апреля 1965, Нахичевань) — азербайджанский учёный, доктор философии по физико-математическим наукам, доцент. Ректор Бакинского государственного университета (с 11 марта 2019 года)[1].

Биография править

Родился 4 апреля 1965 года в городе Нахичевань.

Некоторое время работал заместителем директора Шамахинской астрофизической обсерватории имени Туси Национальной академии наук Азербайджана.

В 1996—1997 годах занимался педагогической деятельностью в Азербайджанском государственном педагогическом университете, в 1998—1999 годах — в Бакинском государственном университете; в 1996—1999 годах — в Академии труда и социальных отношений.

Исполнительный директор Фонда развития науки при Президенте Азербайджанской Республики (2009—2019)[2].

Заведующий отделом космической плазмы и гелиогеофизических проблем Шемахинской астрофизической обсерватории[3].

Член Международного астрономического союза, Европейского астрономического общества[en], Евразийского астрономического общества[en], Международного биометрологического общества.

В сентябре 2005 года награжден медалью «Терегги»[4].
