There are two groups of Muslim Roma who are not related to each other. править

1.) The Xoraxane (other spellings are: Horahane, Khorakhane etc.), various sub-groups named after their old occupation or neighborhoods where they live, like Arlije, Sepecides, etc. Traditionally living in the Balkans, Türkiye, Northern Cyprus, Crimea. Also living in other countries due to labor migration. Their ancestors adopted Islam in the Balkans and Anatolia between the 13th and 15th centuries during the Ottoman Empire. They are cultural Muslims who mixed Islam with Christian elements and old Roma mythology. Other Muslims do not consider them to be full Muslims. Many of the Turkish speaking Muslim Roma (Romanlar) consider themselves Turks and Turkishness is emphasized and some are turning to Tengrism along with Turkic peoples. The term xoraxane is from the Romani language and refers only to this historical group.

2.) Formerly Christian Roma who embraced Islam in the 21st century through contact with Middle Eastern migrants (Syrians, Afghans, Pakistanis, etc.). They are practicing Muslims and full members in the Muslim communities to which they have belonged since conversion. These people are not classified as Xoraxane. In Romani they are called Nevo Muslimani (New Muslims).

Then there are Sinti and other Roma-like groups who embraced Islam in the 20th and 21st centuries. Sökerdan (обс.) 15:38, 30 августа 2023 (UTC)Ответить
