*****The creative, illustrative artworks on parts of postage stamps and postal covers are clearly copyrighted works. The famous raising the flags over the reichstag photo was published in 1945 and will remain copyrighted until 2072. But how is it possible that suddenly, if a copy of that copyrighted photo - or any other copyrighted work - is put on a postage stamp (without the author's permission), then suddenly the entire image itself loses copyright protection that would allow the cropped version from a stamp or enevelope - which contains nothing but the copyrighted work (be it a famous painting, photo of Lyudmila Pavlichenko by Ivan Shagin, or a simple portrait painting by Pyotr Bendel) somehow shed the copyright? It has been long agreed to on Commons per ''de minimis'' rational that portions of a freely licenced image may contain copyrighted works, but the copyrighted portion MUST not be cropped to be the sole portion of a derivative work. The main issue is - should postal covers and stamps be allowed on Commons at all since the artistic portion is copyrighted? As for having to tell Bogomolov.PL to get off my talkpage - I informed him of the footnote being official commons policy. He ranted at me anyway. I tried and tried to explain this to him, but it's like talking to a brick wall. I did not make the rules. I do not care for the long-winded rants of someone who fails to comprehend the complexities of ''des minimis'', Commons:Derivative works, and the fact that a painting cropped off a postal cover is no longer an official document but a work of art. If you are a strong beleiver in the idea that non-free portions should not be in free works, so that such works can be cropped - that doesn't make the art on postal covers public domain by default. ***** Ну про п. 1 — это точно бессмысленная казуистика. Если вырезать портрет с марки и пририсовать ему усики или рожки (да хотя бы просто сделать хорошую ретушь), это создаст производное произведение, но явно несвободное в той же степени, что и в принципе обрезанная марка.
