Описание
правитьМелкие ручейники, длина тела менее 1 см. В основном коричневого или жёлтого цвета, а некоторые виды — тёмные с характерным белым рисунком. Помимо характерной комбинации основных родовых признаков Cheumatopsyche легко отличить от всех других родов гидропсихин по характерной генитальной структуре. Только, возможно, предковая группа видов Cheumatopsyche pali, населяющая Мадагаскар и окрестности имеет удлинённые преанальные придатки. У всех остальных групп видов преанальные придатки меньше. Другими явно примитивными состояниями первичных родовых признаков в этой группе являются: наличие в задних крыльях m-cu; формула шпор 244; и наличие вилок 1235 задних крыльев. Существует 3 производных признака: проэпистернальная щетинистая бородавка отсутствует; близко расположенные поперечные жилки передних крыльев от m-cu до cu; открытая медиальная ячейка заднего крыла. На голове 5-9 щетинок бородавок. Претарзальные коготки самцов имеют разную форму, асимметричны, у некоторых видов с боков обрамлены пучком щетинок. Однако есть виды, в основном с Мадагаскара, с идеально симметричными претарзальными когтями на всех ногах. Формула шпор 2-4-4[1].

Личинка
Систематика
правитьОколо 350 видов. Род был впервые выделен в 1891 году на основании типового вида Hydropsyche lepida Pictet, 1834. Cheumatopsyche близок к Potamyia, но жилки задних крыльев M и Cu1 не параллельны и не близки друг к другу у Cheumatopsyche, а в гениталиях язычковая мезоапикальная доля хорошо развита у нескольких групп видов Cheumatopsyche и никогда не присутствует у Potamyia. Валидный статус рода подтверждён в ходе ревизии, проведённой в 2008 году венгерским энтомологом János Oláh (Department of Environmental Management, Tessedik College, Сарваш, Венгрия) с коллегами[1][2][3][4][5].
